Giving hope...one broken heart at a time
Hope. Comfort. Support.
This is what we hope this page provides.
When your child has just been diagnosed with a heart defect, it's a bewildering time. Your life changes in an instant. Medical terms you've never heard before become crucially important. We've been there. We understand.
Being the parent of a heart baby can be difficult, exhausting, and scary. But you are not alone. One in 100 babies are born with a congenital heart defect. As you begin this journey, you'll be amazed at how many other parents have stories about their heart babies.
The success rate of heart surgeries has increased in the past 20 years. If you are able, research and find the best doctor to do surgery on your baby's condition. We did!
Gold medalist snow boarder Shaun White was born with Tetralogy of Fallot, the same condition our daughter has. How many falls has this guy had!! I was worried about our daughter getting hit in the chest. There are many children and adults who live a normal, otherwise healthy life. in spite of their heart condition.
Pray to the Great Physician! We prayed for the doctor's steady hand, the ability to make quick decisions, for a clear head, and for just about everything in between. Of course we prayed for ultimate healing, but we also had to think what if God wanted to take our new born angel. If God had decided to take her, then who could take better care of her than Him?
This is our daughter in the hospital. 1 or 2 days after surgery.
Day 4 in the hospital. Reunited with big sister
Nearing the end of our hospital stay. All tubes and IV's removed!
This is our daughter at the 1 year anniversary of her life saving heart surgery.
